Meet the Human Behind the Dogs
Hi, I'm Jenna
I'm the person and multi-certified trainer behind The Canine Enrichment Co., where the goal is not to create perfectly polished little robots, but improve quality of life for both ends of the leash.
It is to help dogs and their humans understand each other better, build useful real-life skills, meet the dog's actual needs, and make everyday life together feel a whole lot easier.
And preferably more fun.
Dogs make more sense when we take the time to actually understand them
A lot of what we call a "dog problem" starts with a mismatch.
The human has one idea of how life is supposed to work. The dog has another.
Sometimes the answer is training. Sometimes the dog needs clearer communication, better management, more appropriate outlets, more confidence, more rest, or an opportunity to go sniff something important. Usually, it is some combination of the above.
That is the lens I bring to my work. I want to understand the dog in front of me, the people they live with, the environment they are navigating, and what everyone actually needs everyday life to look like.
Because good training should work outside of a training session.
Less about control. More about communication.
The Canine Enrichment Co. uses reward-based, individualized training designed to build skills without losing sight of the whole dog.
Behavior does not happen in a vacuum.
- Age matters.
- Environment matters.
- Past experiences matter.
- Sleep matters.
- Stress matters.
- Fulfillment matters.
The goal is not simply to stop behavior we dislike. It is to understand what is happening, teach useful alternatives, set everyone up for success, and give them appropriate ways to be dogs.
A few things I believe pretty strongly.
Dogs deserve to feel safe while they learn.
Training should not rely on fear, intimidation, or making a dog afraid to get something wrong. Reward-based training helps us teach clearly while protecting trust and confidence.
Real life is the curriculum.
A skill is useful because it makes life together easier — at home, on neighborhood walks, around visitors, during outings, and everywhere else your dog actually exists.
Enrichment is not a bonus feature.
Sniffing, exploring, moving, chewing, playing, resting, problem-solving, and engaging with the environment are part of being a dog. Meeting those needs can change far more than simply adding another obedience exercise.
Individual dogs require individual plans.
There is no universal puppy checklist, perfect routine, or single training recipe that works for every household. I work with the dog and human beings who are actually in front of me.
Your dog does not have to be perfect to be very good company.
The goal is a life that works for both of you.
Warm and approachable does not mean winging it.
Working with dogs comes with real responsibility. My approach is shaped by 17+ years of hands-on experience in professional pet care and training, along with professional education, continuing development, thoughtful observation, and humane training practices.
I'm a Family Dog Mediator, Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner, Fear Free Certified Trainer, earned a certificate in applied animal behavior through The University of Washington and teach Pet First Aid + CPR.

That is what professional support is for.
My job is not to grade your dog-parenting homework. It is to help you understand what is going on, decide what matters most, and provide realistic guidance with a path forward.
